CHOBE GAME LODGE

Neglected to mention earlier about the lesson the guide at Victoria Falls gave us whilst examining a real skeleton of an elephant's skull.  He demonstrated the functions of different parts of the head, and explained how the back teeth move forward over time whilst the front ones are gradually depleted.  By the time the elephant is about 45 years old, all of the back teeth have been used and the gums seal over where the teeth had been.  After that, the elephant is only able to eat less rough foliage and should live to about 65 or 70 years.  All of this information was very interesting.
Our next place to stay was the houseboat on the Chobe River.
Our last night in Namibia on the Zambezi Queen houseboat was great fun.  The staff provided us with a concert of singing and dancing with native drums, and encouraged the guests to join in.
Their voices are amazingly strong and their hips extremely flexible.
Throughout the day yesterday a video was being filmed to advertise the houseboat, which after checking and editing will be on their website.
This morning a small boat transferred us back to Kasane in Botswana (yet another border crossing).  This area of Africa is where four countries' borders meet, and moving from one to another involves paperwork to leave one and then paperwork to enter another.  The four countries are Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Botswana.  To cross from Zimbabwe to Botswana both shoes and vehicles also had to pass through a bath for "foot and mouth" disease prevention.
At Kasane we were picked up by a 4 x 4 safari jeep for a dirt/sand track transfer to Chobe Game Lodge.  This is like a large resort with individual suites, right beside the river.  The gardens are very green, there is a very attractive swimming pool, and a boardwalk above the water's edge.  The lawns are kept "mowed" by the warthogs in the grounds.
We received a warm welcome from very friendly and efficient staff.  Since our arrival a large number of Aussies has appeared!!!
The first five photos below are from yesterday on the Zambezi Queen and the remaining three are today at Chobe Game Lodge.
